Complex Rehab
Custom-fit wheelchairs are usually prescribed by a patient's primary physician. If you feel you or your loved one may be in need of a custom fit chair (if he or she spends more than 8 hours a day in their chair, please talk to your physician to acquire a prescription. (note: a prescription from a doctor does not guarantee your insurance will cover a custom-fit wheelchair).
The process of acquiring a custom-fit wheelchair depends on the requirements of your individual insurance policy. Our first step will be to request current copies of patient insurance cards, front and back.
Then the patient will be mailed an intake form to be filled out at home, with the help of a caregiver, if necessary. Once this completed form is received by Whitley Home Medical Staff, a seating will be scheduled.
The seating will involve the patient, a licensed physical therapist, and our own Assistive Technologists. All of these professionals work together to ensure the patient's physical needs will be met in the chair that is designed especially for them.
We also provider rehab chairs for pediatric patients. We use a physical therapist and evaluate the child for every need
of their daily living. We do custom fit strollers, standers and gait trainers, manual and power wheelchairs for those small children who require them for mobility.
